Jules Samonte has decided to forgo her senior playing years with Ateneo de Manila University.
Despite having two years of eligibility left, Samonte, who turns 23 on October 22, expressed her gratitude to the school for a glorious four years.
“Seeing all the posts about the UAAP has got me feeling nostalgic,” she said. “Words cannot even describe how thankful and blessed I am to have been able to play the game I love for the blue and white.
“I am immensely grateful to The Ateneo for giving me the opportunity to live out my dream and of course thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey.”
After a stellar high school run with De La Salle-Zobel, Samonte enrolled in Ateneo in 2016.
In her first year, she won the UAAP Season 79 Rookie of the Year honors.
A loyal soldier, Samonte also played for Ateneo in the UAAP beach volleyball competition for two seasons.
Then in her third year, she helped the Lady Eagles win the UAAP Season 81 crown.
Samonte was supposed to be the co-captain of the Lady Eagles in Season 82 along with Dani Ravena. However, the season was cut short due to the ongoing pandemic.
Now, she has decided to move on and write a new chapter in her career which is most likely a pro run in the Premier Volleyball League.
“On to the next.”
