Joshua Pacio gets rematch with Jarred Brooks at ONE 166 in Qatar

Joshua Pacio finds himself at the crossroads of destiny as he gears up to battle Jarred Brooks once again.

The much-awaited rematch is set to take place at ONE 166, emanating live from the Lusail Sports Arena in Doha, Qatar on March 1.

The echoes of their first encounter in December 2022 still resonate in the minds of fans and pundits alike, Pacio and Brooks went back and forth over the course of five grueling rounds.

However, it was a critical submission attempt by Brooks in the fourth round that tilted the scales in his favor on the scorecards, ultimately leading him to a close unanimous decision to dethrone Pacio as the ONE strawweight champion.

Since that fateful night, Pacio and Brooks embarked on separate paths, each facing unique challenges and opportunities.

This past October, Pacio quickly solidified his position as the No. 1 contender by edging out No. 5-ranked and previously unbeaten Mansur Malachiev via a hard-fought unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, Brooks opted for a change in scenery. He boldly stepped up a weight class to challenge Mikey Musumeci for the ONE flyweight submission belt last August.

Despite putting forth a gallant effort in his first submission grappling match under the promotion’s banner, “The Monkey God” succumbed to Musumeci’s mastery, tapping out to a triangle choke with 2:30 left on the clock in the 10-minute duel.

Since that defeat, the outspoken American dynamo has been chomping at the bit to return to the strawweight division and defend his MMA crown.

Brooks’ antics on social media, directed at his Filipino rival, have been nothing short of relentless.

Pacio, on the other hand, exudes confidence and a burning desire to reclaim the gold-plated strap that was once his.

The Filipino phenom believes in his abilities and has made it clear that he envisions victory over Brooks.
