Jorge De Brito takes over as Capital1 head coach ahead of PVL Draft

Capital1 is ushering in a new era as Jorge Souza de Brito returns to the Premier Volleyball League, just in time to lead the Solar Spikers with the first overall pick in the upcoming 2025 PVL Rookie Draft set this Sunday.

The team announced on Monday that De Brito, current head coach of the Alas Pilipinas women’s national team, will now take the helm as Capital1’s head coach for the new PVL season.

His appointment signals a fresh direction for the franchise after three conferences under veteran tactician Roger Gorayeb, who will now shift into a consultant role.

This marks De Brito’s PVL comeback after his stint with the Akari Chargers from 2022 to 2023.

His best finish with the Chargers was a seventh-place result during the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference before stepping away to focus on national team duties.

Capital1, meanwhile, struggled during its debut season in the professional ranks, finishing 11th in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference. They improved to seventh place in the 2024 Reinforced Conference, before again placing 11th in the recently concluded 2024-25 All-Filipino Conference.

With a clean slate and the top pick in the 2025 rookie draft, the Solar Spikers are looking to reset their trajectory under the guidance of De Brito.

The 2025 PVL Draft, slated for this Sunday, will be a crucial opportunity for Capital1 to secure cornerstone players that can complement De Brito’s system and vision.
