Jeron Teng’s next step into entering the pros begins on Thursday
Jeron Teng has officially inked his PBA D-League contract with the AMA Online Education Titans, signalling the beginning of his new journey on Wednesday afternoon.
“I’m really looking forward to playing for AMA this season,” the two-time UAAP champion and Season 79 Finals MVP said.
Last season, the Titans struggled in the PBA’s developmental league, finishing sixth in the Aspirants Cup and fifth (out of seven teams) in the Foundation Cup. With Teng’s addition, the entire community of AMA are banking on a turnaround this season.
“We’re very happy to have Jeron join our team,” shared the CEO of AMA Education System, Dr. Amable C. Aguiluz IX. “The leadership and skill he exhibited during his days in collegiate basketball will certainly be an asset for the team.”
Moreover, the school is looking continue the development Teng gained from De La Salle University.
“Much like in our schools, we also aim to instill a greater sense of accountability and responsibility to the athletes we train,” Dr. Aguiluz added.
“We are confident that Jeron can boost the team’s morale and motivate his teammates to perform their best.”
Teng, on the other hand, is just grateful for the opportunity granted to him by the franchise.
“I’m grateful to be given the opportunity to carry the flag for the students of AMA,” the 23-year-old said.
And Teng’s new journey is set to begin on Thursday, January 19, when the Titans take on Batangas at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
