The reload of San Miguel Alab Pilipinas continues.
Besides tapping floor general Jason Brickman, the one-time ASEAN Basketball League champions have added 6-foot-4 Filipino-American guard Jeremiah Gray for their upcoming campaign.
And for Gray, it is a dream come true to finally don the country’s tri-colors.
“I am very excited to get to represent the Philippines in the ABL this season,” said the 23-year-old guard.
“I am ready to bring the championship back home.”
Gray has been a mainstay with club team Mighty Sports Philippines. He was part of the 2019 Jones Cup champion squad, averaging 9.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.0 assists per game.
Though many see Gray as the one who will fill the shoes left by three-time ABL Most Valuable Player Bobby Ray Parks, Jr., he says that this is his opportunity to carve his own niche.
“I’m sure that people see it that way, but I am not looking to fill the shoes of Parks,” Grey said. “I want to come in and leave my own legacy and mark on this team. What Ray did in his time here was amazing, but now it’s my time to make a name for myself.
“Pressure makes diamonds.”
Last season, Alab were unable to defend their crown, bowing in the quarterfinals.
