JD Cagulangan tears ACL in Suwon KT loss

JD Cagulangan will miss the remainder of the 2025–26 KBL season after being diagnosed with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The 5-foot-8 guard sustained the injury in the second quarter of Suwon KT’s game against Wonju DB last Thursday.

Cagulangan went for a blow-by drive but was unable to elevate, immediately showing signs of discomfort.

The Sonicboom eventually fell to the Promy, 82–80.

Before the injury, the 25-year-old Butuan native was averaging 7.7 points, 3.2 assists, and 2.2 rebounds this season.

He had also recently signed a one-year contract extension with the Sonicboom.

Recovery from an ACL injury typically takes around a year.

Cagulangan’s injury is another huge blow to KT as Kim Sunhyung has been injured since November.

The point guard duty for the Sonicboom now lies solely on the young shoulders of rookie Kang Seongwook.

Suwon KT is currently sixth in the standings with an even 15-15 record.
