Jaypee, Sunsparks continue mastery of ONIC PH to close out MPL elims

In the rematch of the MPL-PH Season Four Finals, Sunsparks foiled ONIC PH’s revenge plan in a thrilling 2-1 victory on the last day of the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Five regular season, Sunday.

With the game heading into a do-or-die Game Three, the top two teams of last season’s made sure to bring out the big guns for the decider.

ONIC PH managed to capitalize early on objectives, taking down six outer turrets while forcing the defending champions to defend their base.

Heading into the late game, ONIC was able to force a clash in the middle lane. However, Jaypee (Esmeralda) outplayed his opponents and popped a four-man falling starmoon to give Sunsparks the upper hand in the battle.

Jaypee slew Wise (Karrie), OhMyV33NUS (Popol and Kupa), and Fuzaken (Akai). Meanwhile, Kielvj (Kimmy) shut down Dlar (Jawhead), leaving Iy4knu (Chou) as the lone survivor of the clash.

Iy4knu tried to defend their last turret for a chance of survival, but Greed_ (Kaja) immediately flickered in and used his divine judgment on Iy4knu, paving the way for Sunsparks’ victory while also foiling ONIC’s revenge plans.

Jaypee once again led the Kings of MPL-PH with six kills, four assists, and three deaths, while Rafflesia (Grock) and Greed_ combined for 15 assists.

With the victory, Sunsparks ended its elimination round campaign in the second spot with a 7-2 record (12 points) behind league-leading BREN Esports. On the other hand, ONIC PH will settle for the third seed also with a 7-2 standing (12 points)

In other matches, BSB solidified its place in the playoffs with a 2-0 win over GEEK FAM PH, while Execration handed STI a rough 2-0 sweep.
