Jaypee “Jaypee” Dela Cruz’s impressive performance as support powered Aura PH’s 2-0 sweep of archrival ONIC PH in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League-Philippines Season Seven regular season, Friday evening.
Aura PH took the second spot in Group A with a 3-1 standing and eight points while ONIC, will fall to the third spot in the same group with five points through a 2-2 standing.
Jaypee, who played the core position for the entirety of his career, brought out another facet in his game as he spearheaded Aura PH’s 15-36 win via the Diggie feeding strategy.
The two-time MPL-Philippines champion won the Smart MVP award despite registering a whopping 28 deaths along with eight assists and a death in the 16:36-minute match.
On the other hand, ONIC PH core Jaylord “Hate” Gonzales, despite finishing with 19 kills and eight assists against just three deaths, was a non-factor in Game One as Jaypee was able to lock him down all throughout the match.
Jaypee once again made his presence felt in Game Two as he went Godlike despite playing Angela in Aura PH’s 20-15 win to seal the sweep.
The former ArkAngel Wicked Minds member finished with a perfect 7-0-8 kill-death-assist tally in the match that lasted for 20 minutes and 15 seconds.
Allen “Greed_” Baloy (Natalia) was named the Smart MVP with a game-high 12 assists along with four kills and seven deaths while Christian “Rafflesia” Fajura (Baxia), who moved to the side lanes in lieu of Ashley “Killuash” Cruz, added 10 assists along with two kills and three deaths.
The two-time MPL-Philippines champion will be going up against Omega Esports on Sunday at 6:00 pm while ONIC PH looks to end its slump on Friday, April 23 against the winless Cignal Ultra at 4:30.
