Javi Gomez de Liano and Ibaraki went cold against Kawasaki, suffering a 65-104 rout in the 2021-22 B.League season, Wednesday at Adastria Mito Arena.
Riding a two-game winning streak, the Robots suddenly faltered in the second stanza of the game after ending the opening frame against the Brave Thunders knotted at 21-all.
Ibaraki went just 4-of-19 from the field in the second frame, putting up just 10 points while allowing the visitors to put up 22 points to fall behind by 12 at the half.
It got worse from there as Matt Janning caught fire in the third canto, dropping 11 of his 17 points in the frame to help extend Kawasaki’s lead.
The lead would go to as high as 41 points late in the contest.
Kawasaki went up to 18-6 while dropping Ibaraki to 5-19.
Nick Fazekas, who celebrated his 2000th point in the B.League in the game, led the way for the Brave Thunders with 19 points and 11 rebounds.
Saturo Maeta and Pablo Aguilar had 13 points each with the latter also grabbing nine boards. Jordan Heath chipped in 12 points while Yuma Fujii glued things together with 10 points and 10 assists.
Marc Trasolini paced the Robots with 17 points and six rebounds while Eric Jacobsen added 14 points and six rebounds.
In nine minutes of play, Javi Gomez de Liano was held scoreless, attempting just one shot while registering an assist.
Ibaraki will next face Tokyo on January 2 and 3 at Adastria Mito Arena.
