Javee Mocon has signed a one-year contract extension with NLEX.
The signing ceremony took place Thursday at the NLEX office in Balintawak, with key team officials present: MPTC Chief Financial Officer and NLEX Officer-in-Charge Luis S. Reñon, Chief Regulatory Officer Arrey A. Perez, Team Governor Ronald T. Dulatre, Team Manager Virgil Villavicencio, and Head Coach Jong Uichico.
“I’m really happy and grateful for this contract extension with NLEX,” said the 30-year-old Mocon, who hails from Guagua, Pampanga. “I think it shows the direction we’re headed and the culture we’re building here. NLEX already feels like family — especially with so many of my fellow San Beda Red Lions around.
“I’m thankful to Coach Jong and the entire coaching staff for believing in me. Of course, I’m also deeply grateful to Boss Luis, Boss Arrey, and Boss Gov Ronald for their trust and support,” he added.
Mocon was acquired by NLEX in a trade with Phoenix in September of last year, in exchange for Ato Ular and a second-round pick in the PBA Season 51 Draft.
Since then, he has provided steady contributions, averaging 9.5 points, 4.67 rebounds, and 2.67 assists in the ongoing PBA Philippine Cup.
Team Governor Ronald Dulatre expressed his excitement for what’s ahead, saying, “After a year with us, Javee is really starting to blossom into becoming one of our leaders. He’s blending well into the system and stepping up when we need him. We can’t wait to see what more he can show in the coming seasons.
“His best is definitely yet to come.”
