Cassandra Naidas and her husband Japeth Aguilar of the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel are doing their part to help those affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
On Tuesday, Cassandra took to Twitter and announced that she has started a crowdfunding to purchase face masks for the health workers, who have been in the frontline of fighting the virus.
“I’m crowdfunding for more donations to purchase face masks for our health workers,” she wrote in a Tweet, where she had also pledged to donate 2,000 pieces of face masks.
Aguilar, on the other hand, is in full support of the drive. He quoted the Tweet of his wife and wrote: “We’ve found a supplier of face masks and will be donating to hospitals.”
The two are encouraging anyone to donate. The details regarding how and where can be found here: Healthliners Philippines
Mask supplies here have become a problem since January when the Taal Volcano erupted and spewed ash.
It then worsened when the first case of the novel coronavirus — then called 2019-nCoV — in the Philippines was reported by the Department of Health later in the same month.
Days ago, the Philippine General Hospital in a statement asked for donations of personal protective equipment including masks, ethyl alcohol, and surgical gowns for its health workers.
