IESF: Sibol ML sweep group stage

Sibol ML faced formidable opponents but exhibited composure in completing a flawless 3-0 sweep of the group stage at the IESF World Esports Championship 2023 in Iasi, Romania.

The Philippine representative will advance to the playoffs as the top seed from Group D.

In their initial challenge, they overcame a close Game 1 against Ukraine, led by Andrii “Defender” Martynenko, who secured the 7th-8th position during the M3 World Championship with the renowned Esports Organization Natus Vincere. They followed it by a dominant performance in Game 2, securing a convincing 2-0 victory.

Sibol then showcased their strength against Colombia, securing a 2-0 win, and concluded their group stage campaign with a 2-0 triumph over the reigning MPL Middle East and North Africa champions, Team Occupy, playing under Egypt.

In the quarterfinals of the double-elimination playoffs, they will compete against the United Arab Emirates. A victory against their Middle Eastern counterparts would set the stage for a semifinal matchup against either MPL Brazil regions or the defending IESF World Champions, Indonesia.

Sibol is represented by AP Bren, led by team captain Angelo Arcangel, David Canon, Marco Stephen Requitano, Michael Angelo Sayson, Rowgien Unigo, and GameLab’s Jan Amande.
