Mark Eddiva might be in dangerous territory right now in the world’s biggest mixed martial arts promotion.
The 30 year old Filipino featherweight suffered his third straight loss in the Ultimate Fighting Championship Sunday morning at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia at the hands of Dan “The Hangman” Hooker.
The Kiwi fighter needed just 84 seconds to “hang” Eddiva in the contest. The two fighters exchange on the stand-up to open the contest with the Team Lakay fighter successfully connecting with a jab that snapped Hooker. As Eddiva caught a front kick attempt by his opponent to drive him to the cage, Hooker was able to grab the neck of the Filipino for a guillotine choke attempt. Hooker then switched to a mounted choke and the Filipino had no other recourse but to tap.
Result: Daniel Hooker defeats Mark Eddiva by submission (guillotine) Rd1 (1:24)
The loss sends Eddiva crashing to his third straight loss (6-3) and, as history says, is in danger of being cut in the UFC. The 26 year old Kiwi goes up to 13-6.
