The Foton Tornadoes will get help — at least for the Invitational Conference — in the form of San Sebastian College-Recoletos Lady Stags graduates Grethcel Soltones and Kath Villegas.
Lady Stags head coach Roger Gorayeb confirmed that the pair had agreed to a one-conference stint with the two-time PSL Grand Prix champions.
“Wala pa kasing lalaruan sila na liga. Kaya sayang naman kung hindi sila makakalaro agad,” Gorayeb told Tiebreaker Times.
The decorated mentor also clarified that both players do not have contracts with the PSL and will only play the Invitational Conference.
Soltones has just won her third consecutive NCAA MVP award, while Villegas had a career year. The Lady Stags, however, failed for the third straight year to win an NCAA title.
But the 23-year-old sees this as a new challenge, adding that playing for the PSL has been a dream of hers.
“I’ll just enjoy it. It’s another experience, another tournament and they said na PSL is a trending league,” Soltones told Tiebreaker Times.
“Dati ko rin kasing pinapangarap na makalaro sa PSL to experience something new naman.”
