Global Hoops brings Fil-foreign clubs, top prospects together at Ateneo

Global Hoops will once again serve as a prelude to the Smart-NBTC National Finals.

Taking place from March 16–21 at the basketball gyms of Ateneo de Manila University, the Global Hoops Showcase Tournament will spotlight the top young overseas-based Filipino talents.

In its third edition, this tournament—founded by Canada’s Mike Cruz and Nap Santos; USA’s Bong Ulep; Australia’s Karlo Angelo, Rey Rayucal, and Cromwell Alvarez; New Zealand’s David Perez; and Italy’s Ever Cuerdo—will feature 17 clubs competing across seven divisions.

Representing Canada are Top Flight, Crossover Canada, and Central Hoops Nation.

Other participants in this tournament supported by Jollibee, Smart, Wilson Philippines, Sequoia Hotel, Scopemed, Gatorade, and Arceegee Sportswear are Fil-Am USA; New Zealand’s Camp David, Fil-QLC, and Phil NZ; Australia’s Homegrown Australia, AUBA, Mic Scopemed, and Coach D; UK’s Bayanihan Elite; Europe’s Batang Europa, Proudly Pinoy Italy, Gladiators Germany, and Malta; and the Middle East’s Dubai Patriots A2Z Sports Academy.

“Global Hoops is more than a tournament—it’s an opportunity to connect young Filipino talents from around the world, give them exposure, and show that no matter where they come from, they belong on the same court chasing the same dreams,” said Cruz.

Some of the top talents to watch include 6-foot-10 Marcus Tyler of Top Flight, 6-foot guard Liam Bundalian, Crossover’s 6-foot-7, 14-year-old prodigy Kyler Gorman, and Camp David’s Lance Amos.

Following the showcase, prospects will participate in a Combine Skills Camp and Youth Philippines Prospect Camp on March 20, culminating in an All-Star Game and the championship match on March 21 before advancing to the National Finals.
