Maverick Ahanmisi finally got his wish.
Hours before their game against TNT, Ginebra San Miguel has traded the 6-foot-2 Filipino-American guard to Terrafirma, along with Aljon Mariano, in exchange for the Dyip’s 2027 first-round pick.
The league approved the trade on Wednesday.
The move allows Maverick to team up with his younger brother, Jerrick Ahanmisi, who was traded to Terrafirma last August 22 by Magnolia — along with a second-round pick — in exchange for Javi Gomez de Liano.
Maverick revealed in a vlog that he personally requested a trade from San Miguel Corporation sports director Alfrancis Chua during the off-season.
He did not play in Ginebra’s loss to Magnolia during opening day.
Last season, Ahanmisi appeared in 65 games for Ginebra, averaging 7.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game while playing behind Scottie Thompson and RJ Abarrientos.
Meanwhile, Mariano spent the first nine years of his PBA career with the Gin Kings.
Maverick and Mariano are set to make their Terrafirma debut on October 22 against Converge at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
In exchange, Ginebra now owns the coveted first round pick of the Dyip for 2027.
The 2027 class is expected to be a deep one, headed by La Salle big man Mike Phillips and Ateneo forward Kymani Ladi.
