Gilas Cadets roll past Indonesia to stay perfect in SEABA Cup


The Gilas Cadets zoomed to their third straight win in the 2016 SEABA Stankovic Cup after easily beating Indonesia, 83-52 Wednesday in Bangkok, Thailand.

Mike Tolomia and Roger Rogoy each scored 12 points to lead the nationals. Tolomia also dished out seven assists, while Pogoy hit 2-for-4 from three-point area.

Kevin Ferrer added 10 points as the Gilas Cadets scored their third straight win. The team will round out its campaign against Thailand.

Up by just 17-16 in the first quarter, the Philippines unfurled an 8-0 run to take a 25-16 lead entering the second quarter. Back to back triples by Tolomia and Kevin Ferrer extended the lead to 38-23, as the Gilas cadets took control.

Already ahead by 17 entering the fourth quarter, the Philippines outscored Indonesia, 23-9 to put an emphatic end to the game.

The nationals had 19 assists compared to only seven for Indonesia, and scored 33 points off 21 turnovers from their opponents.

The Philippines will face regional rivals Thailand tomorrow, May 26 at 7:00pm.
