George Pascua credits consistently solid FEU program for producing PWNVT talent

Of the 43 combined slots in both the Women’s and Under-23 National Volleyball Teams, seven are filled by current Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws.

Buding Duremdes, Jeanette Villareal, Lycha Ebon, and Ivana Agudo made the U-23 pool while Celine Domingo, Gel Cayuna, and Jerilli Malabanan are a part of the Women’s pool.

When asked about his players’ inclusion, head coach George Pascua credited FEU’s tradition of excellence. The current generation of Lady Tamaraws is continuing a long lineage of Morayta-based National Team players which includes Tina Salak and Rachel Daquis.

“Very proud ako kasi siyempre, FEU ‘yan, product ng FEU ‘yan. Basta kailangan lang, ‘yung pagiging National Team kasi, responsibility ‘yan. Kailangan alam lang nila i-manage. Proud ang buong FEU community,” said Pascua, who was mainstay on the National Team during his heyday like fellow Tamaraws Shaq Delos Santos and Bob Malenab.

“Of course, ‘yung program naman, halos pare-pareho lang. Depende siya sa kung paano mo siya ia-apply. Siyempre, maraming nagko-consider sa mga system. Iba ang sistema sa mga babae, iba ang pwestuhan. Pero as long as nai-incorporate mo sila sa needs ng team pero hindi siya ganoon kadali, it’s a process. Like ngayon, paunti-unti siya.”

And the program will strive to continue to produce more national team prospects.
