Franky Johnson headlines Rain or Shine 3×3

Rain or Shine will have one of the most decorated local 3×3 players in the game for the inaugural staging of the PBA’s three-a-side game.

Franky Johnson, the 17th overall pick in the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft, will not be part of the Elasto Painters’ 5-on-5 team as he will take charge for their 3×3 squad.

“We’ve signed him to our 3×3 team,” said Rain or Shine head coach Chris Gavina.

“With his experience in that game, we expect him to be one of the leaders of our 3×3 team.”

Johnson is currently the eighth-ranked 3×3 player in the country.

The 6-foot-2 shooter led Phenom-Basilan in the 2019 Chooks-to-Go Patriots Cup, earning MVP honors. He is also the first Filipino to win a two-point shootout in the FIBA 3×3 pro circuit, doing so in the Kaohsiung Challenger.

Johnson will be joined by 6-foot-4 Joseph Eriobu and the backcourt duo of Kenneth Mocon and RJ Argamino.

Eriobu, though, is also playing in the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup with Clarin.

Mocon and Argamino were the 29th and 40th picks in the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.

PBA 3×3 begins on August 7.
