Fnatic ONIC extends win streak to five in MPL PH with sweep over Omega

By: Jan Marcus Montevirgen

Fnatic ONIC Philippines continued their dominance in MPL Philippines Season 14, extending their win streak to five games with a 2-0 sweep over Smart Omega on Saturday at the Green Sun Hotel in Makati.

The Sonics displayed a well-rounded performance throughout the series, particularly in Game 2.

There, they relied on the consistent plays of Frince “Super Frince” Ramirez (Lylia), King “K1NGKONG” Perez (Nolan), and Duanne “Kelra” Pillas (Harith).

Their steady gameplay, combined with strategic hero selections, allowed ONIC to maintain control of the map and dictate the pace of the match from start to finish.

“Sa akin, yung thoughts ko ‘don, parang kahit saang anggulo, masaya ako doon. Pero may lungkot kase ‘di pa rin tapos eh,” said Kelra during the post-match interview.

“Kumbaga wala pa kaming napapatunayan talaga. Yung winstreak na yan pwedeng mag-end yan kapag nag-playoffs eh. Sa playoffs pa rin talaga magkaka-alaman. Kaya hindi rin kami masaya sa five-game win streak na yon,” the former Omega stalwart added.

ONIC’s composure and tactical prowess were evident as they maintained their momentum throughout the game.

This culminated in a decisive 17-minute victory, featuring a strong top-lane push that effectively ended Smart Omega’s chances of mounting a comeback.

Game 1 saw King “K1NGKONG” Perez shine on his Roger, finishing the match flawlessly with a perfect KDA of 10 kills and two assists.

K1NGKONG began to snowball as early as seven minutes into the game, securing five kills and two assists, which helped ONIC establish a commanding 8k gold lead early on.

From that point, ONIC continued to dominate, closing out the game in just 13 minutes and 40 seconds with a 16-4 kill score.

Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM at the same venue.
