Flaptzy crowned MPL PH 12 Finals MVP

After years of heartbreak, David “FlapTzy” Canon finally got his redemption.

The veteran EXP laner, who had been in and out of AP Bren’s roster, was hailed as the Finals MVP after leading his team to a 4-1 victory over Blacklist International in the MPL Philippines Season 12 grand finals, which took place on Sunday at the EVM Convention Center.

“Nagulat po talaga ako. Hindi ko alam na ako ang nasa isip ko (nasa) kanilang apat eh. Isa sa kanilang apat,” said FlapTzy.

FlapTzy kicked off the series with a solid Arlott performance, recording a 1-1-1 line in the 9-2 Game 1 victory, followed by a 2-0-11 KDA on Phoveus in the 14-2 Game 2 win.

After losing Game 3, the former Cignal Ultra standout took charge for AP Bren in Game 4. He registered two kills and three assists without a single death on Arlott, earning him the Match MVP honors.

He finished the series with a 1-3-12 statline on Arlott once again in Game 5.

FlapTzy dedicated his Finals MVP award to his long-time teammate Angelo “Pheww” Arcangel, whom he said motivated him to perform at his best in the finals.

“Dine-dedicate ko kay kuya Pheww po. Kasi siya po yung dahilan kung bakit ganun yung laro ko kanina eh,” said the 19-year-old former world champion.
