Eya Laure opens up on stress of Chery Tiggo’s non-compete clause

After nearly two years away from the Premier Volleyball League, Eya Laure finally made her highly-anticipated return on Saturday, stepping onto the court for Choco Mucho in a statement-making debut against Akari at the Filoil Centre.

Her comeback comes after an abrupt exit from Chery Tiggo left her in limbo, sidelined from the league she once called home.

Laure last played in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference, with contract complications preventing her from competing in the PVL ever since.

The long stretch away from competitive play tested her both physically and mentally, but Laure credits her strong support system for keeping her grounded and focused.

“Mentally, siguro pinaka-importante yung mga taong nasa paligid ko,” Laure said after scoring 11 points in her first game back.

Above all, Laure expressed gratitude to Alas Pilipinas for helping her stay in shape, sharpen her skills, and remain ready for a confident return to the PVL.

Tinyaga talaga nila ako; sila yung bumuo ulit ng kumpiyansa ko,” she said.

Now back in the league, Laure is eager to leave her mark and contribute to Choco Mucho’s success. She also aims to prove that her time away has only made her stronger, more resilient, and ready for whatever challenges lie ahead.
