EJ Obiena shatters SEAG pole vault record


CAPAS, TARLAC — Olympic-bound EJ Obiena churned an outing never seen before in the 30th Southeast Asian Games’ pole vault competition. 

Saturday evening here at the NCC Athletics Stadium, the 24-year-old surpassed the Games record, clearing the 5.45-meter mark to win gold.

The previous record was 5.35m, set by Thailand’s Porranot Purahong back in 2017.

Obiena’s personal-best is 5.81.
