Edward “Edward” Dapadap experienced a bittersweet moment as Aurora ended his former team Blacklist International’s MPL Philippines Season 14 campaign in the lower-bracket semi-finals with a 3-1 victory.
In an exclusive interview with Tiebreaker Times, Edward expressed his mixed emotions, admitting that it was difficult for him to play a role in Blacklist’s elimination from the playoffs.
The win held personal significance for Edward, who felt a strong desire to prove himself as a key player that Blacklist had relied on to make a deep tournament run.
“Nakakalungkot isipin na dati akong nandon, tapos may parang gigil din somehow kasi siyempre ayaw kong magpalaglag sa kanila na ipamukha sa akin na kahit wala ako don kaya nilang manalo,” Edward said.
“So parang pinrove ko lang na isa ako sa parang mga key? [para manalo sila]. Di ako sure,” he added.
Earlier in the regular season, Edward had been instrumental in helping Blacklist secure a playoff spot when Aurora defeated RSG Philippines with a clean 2-0 sweep. However, in their subsequent encounter, the Codebreakers managed to edge out Aurora in a tight 2-1 victory.
In this latest high-stakes match, Edward stepped up once again, guiding Aurora to a decisive 3-1 win over his former squad.
After the match, the MPL Philippines Season 10 MVP took a moment to address his former teammates, believing they had something to prove against him.
“Nice game. Wala eh, sa mga former teammates ko parang mayroon sila gustong patunayan sa akin. Parang gigil din sila sa akin. Nice game din, kitakits next season,” he shared.
