The Philippines continues to dominate Southeast Asian basketball — including in the NBA2K realm.
Just like its real-world counterpart, E-Gilas Pilipinas romped Indonesia in its final match-up in the 2020 FIBA Esports Open with a commanding 71-35 win to complete a five-game sweep, Sunday.
E-Gilas dominated all five games, winning by an average margin on 32.8 points per game.
But unlike their first four games, this one was close in the first 10 minutes of the contest. By the end, the Pinoys held a slim 22-16 lead.
With Rial taking the lead, E-Gilas went on a 24-7 third quarter blitz to blow the game wide open.
Rial scored nine of his 25 points during that run.
“Nag-adjust ‘yung Indonesia,” admitted Aguila, who had 17 points in the contest. “After the half, nakapag-adjust kami sa depensa at sa mga ginagawa nila kaya lumayo na kami.”
Shintarou added 15 markers and five dimes in the contest that saw E-Gilas lead by as much as 39 points, 71-32.
