Calvin Abueva is optimistic about returning sooner for Magnolia.
The two-time BPC is liking the progress of his recovery from the hemorrhoid treatment he underwent two months before the new PBA season.
He attended the Season 48 opening rites on Sunday as he was named part of the previous season’s All-Defensive Team in the Leo Awards.
“It’s a good sign,” he said shortly after watching the Hotshots begin their Commissioner’s Cup campaign with a 110-102 win over TNT at the SMART Araneta Coliseum.
“Posibleng mabilis, depende kay Coach.”
Abueva’s optimism stems from what he felt during team practice yesterday, as he has already taken part in light drills and non-contact sessions.
“Yesterday kasi, nag-try ako mag-dunk, nag-improve naman,” the 35-year-old forward said. “Wala namang reaction sa part na na-surgery.”
But Abueva will learn more about how well he’s been this week, as he has been cleared by the doctors to lift weights.
“By this week lift muna tayo, doon natin anuhin,” he said.
