Dez Wells is still a game-time decision for San Miguel in its 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup meeting with Blackwater on Wednesday due to his ankle injury, according to coach Leo Austria.
The NBA G-League veteran suffered the injury during the second quarter of the Beermen’s clash versus the Meralco Bolts last October 27, which they lost by 26 points, 99-125.
“Depende sa kanya. Kasi inassure ako ng PT na playable eh, kaya lang depende sa nararamdaman niya. Siyempre kung wala, all-Filipino,” said Austria prior to the match at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Austria said that it will also depend on Wednesday’s game whether or not the team will look for Wells’ replacement.
“Yung backup depende sa sitwasyon. Kasi next game namin Saturday. As of now hindi pa namin alam kumg makalalaro ng maayos, kung hundi baka kailangan mag-scout na kami,” he said.
Wells is currently averaging 37.1 points, 7.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.0 block in the season-ending tilt.
The Beermen are looking to snap out of their two-game funk in their 4:30 p.m. game versus the skidding Elite.
