Delos Santos rules Mau, Robins-Hardy out of ASEAN GP second leg

National team head coach Shaq Delos Santos has said that Kalei Mau and Alohi Robins-Hardy are some of the unavailable players for the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team’s campaign in the second leg of the ASEAN Grand Prix in Sta. Rosa, Laguna from October 4 to 6.

According to Mau, she “overused” her left Achilles but revealed that “It’s not an injury, it’s more like injury prevention.” Moreover, she expressed a strong desire to be on the court but stressed that “the doctor has to clear” her.

However, Delos Santos disclosed that he will not put the Fil-Hawaiian winger at risk, emphasizing that she has to keep her health in check.

“Definitely, hindi muna siya maglalaro ngayong second leg kasi talagang kailangan niya magpagaling muna,” said the Petron tactician.

In the meantime, Mau will pay her doctor a visit this week after having her left Achilles checked last Tuesday, September 24, when she returned to the country from Thailand. Since then, she hasn’t seen action even in the 2019 PSL Invitational Cup for her club team, F2 Logistics.

Meanwhile, Robins-Hardy — per Delos Santos — is ineligible for the second leg due to concerns about her passport.

“Si Alohi kasi, hindi siya maco-consider [dahil walang Philippine passport] ngayong second leg.”
