CALAMBA, LAGUNA — Thirty-one year old dunk artist David Carlos showed that he’s still got hops, going five-for-five in the Slam Dunk Contest of the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup powered by TM, Friday at INSPIRE Sports Academy here.
And Carlos put on a show to close out this campaign.
Facing Sarangani’s Carlo Escalambre and fellow high-flyers Darwin Cantong and Jesus Manay, Carlos pulled out his best tricks in the Grand Finals.
In his first dunk, he threw down a look-away scorpion dunk that scored a whopping 50.
Escalambre’s 360, Cantong’s pass-from-the-side reverse dunk, and Manay’s assisted windmill, all drew 50s as well.
Carlos broke away from the pack with a dunk over five people that netted another 50.
Escalambre’s two-handed 360 was just a 45. Manay’s tomahawk was a 43, while Cantong’s assisted windmill was a 46.
“Surreal,” said Carlos about being back on the floor again.
After a mishap was cleared during the first leg that saw Cantong win the competition, Carlos was adjudged as the five-time winner, bringing home a total of P100,000.
