Two of Davao Occidental’s brightest upstarts are ready to turn pro.
Kenneth Mocon and Richard Albo are set to join the upcoming 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.
The two confirmed the development, coming to a decision because of the uncertainty surrounding the resumption of commercial league Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.
“I just want to prove that I can play in the PBA and hopefully, become the best,” said Kenneth, younger brother of Rain or Shine stalwart Javee.
“Hindi siya yabang. Mangangarap ka na rin lang, why not dream big hindi ba?”
Mocon, 27, is a 5-foot-10 guard out of San Beda University. Though he never cracked the Red Lions lineup, he was able to prove himself in the MPBL, averaging 5.1 points, 1.8 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.0 steals per game for the Tigers during the Chooks-to-Go Lakan Cup.
On the other hand, Albo, a 6-foot-2 banger, will be one of the oldest players in the draft class at age 34. The product of De Ocampo Memorial College normed 3.9 points and 2.9 rebounds per game.
It is still unknown whether the two will come back for the proposed resumption of Davao Occidental games in the MPBL next month in Subic. The MPBL has yet to receive clearance from the IATF.
