Host Tiaong Meaksyon and fancied Siomai King turned back their respective foes last Thursday to forge a finals duel for the inaugural D2 Super Cup Invitational Tournament crown in partnership with the Pilipinas Super League Friday at the Tiaong Convention Center.
Reigning UAAP MVP Malick Diouf of University of the Philippines paired 18 points with 17 rebounds.
Tiaong downed Manila, 79-68, in their knockout semifinal tiff.
Mapua University playmaker Clint Escamis also shone with 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists. Meanwhile, Darlyse Olaga had 15 and 14 for Tiaong in the week-long tilt powered by Converge that is also backed by Alona party-list Rep. Anna Villaraza-Suarez.
Mark Yu and Jean Victor paced the Citystars with 18 and 16 points, respectively.
Siomai King clinched a slot in the Big Dance opposite Tiaong after it drubbed San Antonio Quezon 90-79 in the other Last 4 showdown.
Encho Serrano showed the way for Siomai King with 25 points and nine rebounds. Landry Sanjo added 23 points and 14 rebounds.
Leo Najorda also had 16 for Siomai King.
Tutoy Ramirez scored 19 points for the Bobcats, while Alpha Ba, Jhaselle Fresco, and Isaac Danting got 16, 15, and 11, respectively.
The one-game final is this Sunday at the same venue which boasts of top-standard sporting features and amenities with up to 4,000 seating capacity.
A whopping grand prize of P2 million is at stake in the final.
