NCAA Season 99 MVP Cloanne Mondoñedo believes that familiarity will play a significant role in her transition from St. Benilde to ZUS Coffee in the Premier Volleyball League.
Mondoñedo will be teaming up with her Benilde teammates Gayle Pascual, Michelle Gamit, and Jade Gentapa at ZUS Coffee, coached by Jerry Yee.
“Siyempre yung familiarity ng bawat isa malaking tulong din yun and hindi na bago sa adjustment,” said Mondoñedo, after receiving her Collegiate Press Corps’ NCAA Women’s Volleyball Player of the Year award last Monday at the Discovery Suites.
“Mas madali kasi yung communication namin yung bond namin nandon na,” she added.
The reigning NCAA Best Setter already dipped her feet into PVL action last year when she played for Farm Fresh in the Invitational and Second All-Filipino Conferences.
Her previous stint with the Foxies allowed her to skip the draft and sign with ZUS Coffee, just like Pascual, Gamit, and Gentapa.
Despite her past experience in the PVL, Mondoñedo admitted that returning to the league will present a whole new set of challenges this time around, which is why she vowed to work twice as hard.
“It’s gonna be like big adjustments for us not just for me but also for my teammates. Ayun, malaking… kailangan talaga mas malaki na yung trabaho namin,” she said.
ZUS Coffee, formerly known as Strong Group Athletics, holds the best chance to secure the top overall pick in the inaugural PVL Draft after finishing the All-Filipino Conference with a winless record of 0-11.
