It’s no secret how close PBA rookies CJ Perez and Robert Bolick are as friends.
From their days in the NCAA, where they were touted as rivals, to their trek to the pro ranks, and to being teammates in Gilas Pilipinas, the celebrated young cagers share a deep bond.
And so it saddened Perez to learn on Saturday that Bolick had been badly injured.
Bolick suffered with a knee injury during NorthPort’s 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup match with San Miguel last Wednesday. The Batang Pier rookie will have to go under the knife to have it repaired.
Given that, the San Beda University product will have to sit out several months to recuperate.
“As an athlete, mahirap ‘yung dumating ka sa point na ganoon,” lamented Perez on Sunday moments, after Columbian’s match versus defending champions Magnolia which they lost, 103-118.
For Perez, he’s hoping and praying for the best for Bolick, who has been incredibly solid for his team in this season-ending meet with norms of 12.8 points, 6.0 assists, and 5.0 rebounds.
“I’m praying for him,” said the Lyceum product. “Pinagdadasal ko siya lagi. Kahit nasa kabilang team kami, iba ‘yung samahan namin ni Bolick.
“Sana gumaling siya agad at makabalik.”
