It did not take long for George Pascua to sign with a new team
After dismissing long-time mentor Sammy Acaylar, the Cignal HD Spikers immediately signed two-time PSL champion coach George Pascua to serve as its new mentor in a report by Volleyverse.
“I am deeply honored and very grateful for this opportunity given by Cignal management. I like the roster and quite familiar with some of the players,” Pascua told Volleyverse.
“So rest assured that I would do my best to give Cignal its first PSL crown.”
Back in 2014, Pascua helped build the Petron franchise from the ground. He first tasted PSL gold during the 2014 Grand Prix.
His shining moment then came during the 2015 All-Filipino conference, steering Petron to an immaculate sweep — a feat that will be hard to duplicate.
However, as Petron entered a rebuilding phase in 2016, he was released by the franchise prior to the start of the Grand Prix.
Overall, he compiled a 38-10 record with Petron, 8-7 in the playoffs.
Pascua will inherit a team that is bannered by Stephanie Mercado, Cherry Vivas, Janine Marciano, Mylene Paat, and Jheck Dionela. The Cignal franchise struggled during its 2016 campaign, capped by a last place finish during the Grand Prix.
