Two contenders in the on-going Foundation Cup have decided to beef up their line-ups for the playoffs.
In a move to plug the hole left by San Beda Red Lion Davon Potts, reigning Aspirants’ Cup champions Cignal HD Hawkeyes have decided to tap Meralco Bolts practice player Jonathan Uyloan.
“He should have been here in our last game,” recalled Cignal head coach Boyet Fernandez. “But the paper works were not done yet [last Tuesday].”
The 33-year-old floor general, who averaged 10.4 minutes per game during Meralco’s Commissioner’s Cup campaign, will replace Simot Atkins in the line-up.
For the surprising Team Batangas, the team looks to replace the void left by Joseph Sedurifa by tapping former Zark’s Jawbreakers ace Robby Celiz.
“We needed a scorer and I hope he can help us,” shared Batangas head coach Eric Gonzales.
Celiz, who averaged 19.6 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists during the elimination round, will make his debut on Tuesday, August 1, against the Flying V Thunder. The game is Batangas’ last before the playoffs.
The deadline of signings for playoff-bound teams is set on Wednesday, August 2, at 12:00nn.
