UAAP POW Kevin Quiambao’s career-high can’t quench his thirst for more

Kevin Quiambao put on a masterclass performance for De La Salle University, establishing himself as a class above the rest and earning the Collegiate Press Corps (CPC) UAAP Men’s Player of the Week honors presented by the Philippine Sports Commission for the period of October 26 to 30.

In a high-stakes showdown with Ateneo, the reigning MVP rose above the competition, posting a career-high 33 points, 13 rebounds, and two assists to lead the Green Archers to an 80-65 win over their storied rivals.

This stellar outing, combined with his leadership on the court, made him the top choice among candidates including UST’s Kyle Paranada, Adamson’s AJ Fransman, UP’s Gani Stevens, and UE’s Precious Momowei, marking Quiambao’s second Player of the Week recognition of the season.

However, despite his outstanding performance, Quiambao remains unsatisfied and is focused on achieving greater goals with his team.

With this win, the Final Four-bound Green Archers currently sit at the top of the standings with a 10-1 record.

“It’s a good win for us, pero malayo pa kami sa gusto naming mapuntahan. Sinabi sa’min ni coach [Topex Robinson] na after this game, medyo matagal ‘yung break namin, so all out niyo,” Quiambao shared.

“Inantay ko lang ‘yung game na kusa pumunta sa akin. And then, sabi kasi ni coach magbakaw ko eh. Kaya binakaw ko na.”
