Chris Newsome, Cliff Hodge not cleared to join Meralco in Champions Cup

Already without two of their veterans, the Meralco Bolts were handed another ordeal that would have to overcome for the 2018 FIBA Asia Champions Cup.

The Filipino-American frontcourt duo of Cliff Hodge and Chris Newsome have been declared as ineligible to play as locals by the International Basketball Federaton for the continental club tourney.

Also out for the tourney is 7-foot-2 reinforcement Liam McMorrow. McMorrow sustained an injury early this week and was replaced by Diamond Stone.

The final lineup of the Bolts for the Champions Cup is as follows: Baser Amer, Simon Atkins, Jason Ballesteros, KG Canaleta, Anjo Caram, Allen Durham, Reynel Hugnatan, Jammer Jamito, Garvo Lanete, Nico Salva, Diamond Stone, and Mike Tolomia.

Ranidel de Ocampo and Jared Dillinger sustained injuries as well prior to the tourney.

The Bolts will face ASEAN Basketball League Season 8 runners-up Mono Vampire tonight.
