TNT hopes that Troy Rosario did not suffer anything serious after getting hurt in their 2021 PBA Philippine Cup match versus Meralco Friday night.
The 6-foot-7 forward suffered an apparent ankle injury with less than four minutes left to play after securing the offensive board. He was seen lying down on the floor afterward while clutching his right ankle, visibly in pain.
He was subbed out and never came back, leaving with four points, nine rebounds, and two assists in 28 minutes and 31 seconds of play.
Fortunately, somehow, he left at a time when the game was all but settled as the Tropang Giga were up by 16. They eventually won, 91-76.
“Hopefully Troy’s injury is not too severe,” said head coach Chot Reyes moments after the match at the DHVSU Gym in Bacolor, Pampanga.
The decorated mentor also has his fingers crossed that Rosario will be able to suit up for their crucial meeting with the Magnolia Hotshots (5-1) on Sunday, where they aim to extend their unbeaten run to six.
“Hopefully he can play again on Sunday ’cause that’s going to be a big part of our offense,” said Reyes.
The six-year pro has indeed been key in TNT’s perfect run thus far. Prior to Friday, he averaged 12.5 points and 10.8 rebounds.
