If fighting for flag and country is not enough motivation for the Philippines Men’s National 3×3 Basketball Team, one of the chief backers of the team has thrown down another incentive.
On top of the event sponsorship, Chooks-to-Go has just committed to reward each player of Pilipinas Men’s 3×3 – a team composed of Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Christian Standhardinger, and Stanley Pringle – a substantial amount in every win they would tally in the 2018 FIBA 3X3 World Cup.
“This is just our way of showing appreciation for the sacrifices made by our players,” said Bounty Agro Ventures Inc. president Ronald Mascariñas. “Imagine, for the past few weeks, they’ve been practicing twice a day.
“Their efforts should be rewarded,” he added.
The Philippines, the 19th-seed in the tournament, is currently situated in Pool C together with Russia (3rd), Brazil (8th), Mongolia (11th), and Canada (14th). The top two teams in each group advances to the knockout playoffs.
Though Mascariñas did not disclose how much the win bonus reward is, he gave a rough estimate.
“If we give away more than two million on top of our sponsorship, ibig-sabihin nun nag-champion na tayo,” Mascariñas quipped.
The Philippines begins its campaign against Brazil on Saturday, June 9, at 3:10pm.
