Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 owner Ronald Mascariñas is opening the doors of his league to teams interested to join — including those from the PBA.
Yes. The PBA.
The Bounty Agro Ventures, Inc. President made the pronouncement in the One Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas virtual presser on Independence Day.
Parties from Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League, National Basketball League, and Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup are welcome to participate as well.
“We are open to all interested teams from the MPBL, the NBL, the VisMin Super Cup, the PBA, and the public,” the amiable executive said.
Mascariñas is doing so as Chooks 3×3 aims to help the Philippines gain an outright berth to the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
“Together, we will pave the road to the 2024 Paris Olympics while each team will have a chance to compete in the FIBA 3×3 pro circuit,” he said.
Chooks 3×3 has its sights set on elevating its efforts for the Olympic cause after helping the country gain a ticket to the OQT held just last May in Austria.
That became possible when the first-of-its-kind league led the country’s ascent to the Top 20 of the FIBA 3×3 world rankings back in 2019.
The rise happened within just 11 months.
Gilas Pilipinas 3×3, unfortunately, was not able to book a slot for July’s Tokyo Olympics after going winless in four games.
Thus, the goal to qualify straight into the next Olympics.
And the road to that starts possibly in July, where Chooks 3×3 hopes to reopen its season subject to the approval of Games and Amusements Board.
The league last played in October last year in a bubble mounted at the Inspire Sports Academy in Calamba, Laguna.
“Most likely baka July, we’ll reopen the league subject to getting the approval from GAB,” Mascariñas said.
