Tallo, Lanete feel pressure ahead of Chooks 3×3 Quest

A celebration.

That is what the past month will be for Bounty Agro Ventures Inc., the mother company of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3, as it is celebrating the silver jubilee of its founding.

The Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 International Standalone Quest, which takes place on Friday at Ayala Malls Solenad, is part of the activities to celebrate the milestone and will culminate on October 1-2 during the Chooks-to-Go FIBA 3×3 World Tour Cebu Masters at SM Seaside.

“As part of our 25th anniversary, we have two key events for sports – the first is the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 International Quest which will be the start of our athletes’ journey towards the Cebu Masters. And we are planning a lot of surprises for both tournaments,” the godfather of Philippine 3×3 Ronald Mascarinas said.

The country’s top 3×3 team Cebu Chooks! headlines the Philippine contingent and will be joined by Manila Chooks! and developmental team Butuan Chooks!

Cebu will be composed of PH no. 1 Mac Tallo, no. 3 Brandon Ramirez, no. 29 Vince Tolentino, and import Mike Nzeusseu.

Cebu will be slotted in Pool B in this level eight tournament that has US$10,000 and a Cebu Masters main draw ticket going to the champion. Also in their group are Mongolia’s ZaisanMMC Energy, Japan’s Saitama Alphas, and Butuan Chooks!

Butuan will be headlined by NCAA Season 94 MVP Prince Eze. He is joined by new boys JP Cauilan, Jason Strait, and Aurin Catacutan.

Manila, composed of PH no. 4 Chico Lanete, no. 5 Dennis Santos, newcomer Dave Ando, and import Henry Iloka, will have a tough task as Mongolia’s Ulaanbaatar and Zavkhan MMC Energy; and Malaysia’s Kuala Lumpur Aseel are their poolmates.

Pressure is on for the three home teams as the champion will win US$10,000 along with an outright main draw seat for the Cebu Masters that takes place from October 1 to 2 at SM Seaside. Meanwhile, the second-place team will bag $5,000 and a qualifying draw slot in the level 10 tournament.

“Siyempre kailangan namin manalo,” said Tallo. “Malaking selebrasyon ito para sa Chooks-to-Go at kayla Boss Ronald. Sana maulit namin yung nagawa namin nung Super Quest ngayong Biyernes.”

“Ang goal namin siyempre All-Filipino na Finals,” added Lanete. “Sa tingin ko kakayanin naman namin basta huwag lang kami magkampante.”
