Another Philippine Superliga mainstay has decided to move to the Premier Volleyball League.
Chery Tiggo, formerly Foton, is set to transfer to the PVL.
Team owner Rommel Sytin told PVL president Ricky Palou about their commitment, Tuesday morning.
“We welcome Chery to the PVL. Mr. Sytin told us about his commitment earlier,” Palou told Tiebreaker Times.
“Chery will definitely bring more competition to our league.”
The United Asia Automotive Group, Inc-owned franchise has been in the PSL since 2014.
During their time in the PSL, Foton, another brand of UAAGI, won two championships there, the 2015 and 2016 Grand Prix tournaments.
In 2020, they changed their name to Chery Tiggo Crossover.
In the PVL, they will carry the name Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Crossover to promote their new 4×4 vehicle.
Some of the players Chery has are the Santiago sisters, the Laure sisters, Mylene Paat, Jasmine Nabor, and Janine Navarro.
The Laures have the option to either continue playing in the UAAP or go pro while the team still owns the rights to Ageo Medics import Jaja Santiago.
The team is coached by Aaron Velez.
Chery is the third PSL team to move to the PVL, following PLDT and Cignal.
Only two teams remain in the PSL, namely F2 Logistics and Sta. Lucia.
