Ces Molina says Cignal out for vengeance in PVL Invitationals

Ces Molina and the rest of Cignal have a chip on their shoulders entering the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.

The Open Conference’s Best Outside Spiker shared that the HD Spikers are dead-set on making it to the finals this time. This follows a bronze finish in the Open Conference that saw them miss out on a finals spot despite a strong start in the tourney.

“Yun yung pinaka motivation namin, Like what I’ve said na muntik na kaming mag-finals last time pero kinapos kami,” said Molina after Cignal’s 25-17, 25-21, 25-20, 25-20 debut win over Army-Black Mamba.

“Yung difference na gusto naming ipakita this time is yung magkaroon kami ng endgame talaga – na every game, kapag kaya naming layuan yung score, lalayuan talaga namin para maging malinis talaga yung tapos ng game namin.”

In the Open Conference, the HD Spikers swept the entire Group A in the pool stage. They then dispatched BaliPure in the quarterfinals to move a series away from its first finale in the PVL.

Unfortunately, Cignal dropped a 1-0 series advantage over Petro Gazz, and was relegated down to the bronze medal match.

The HD Spikers’ losing streak eventually reached three games after losing to Choco Mucho in Game One. The team managed to turn the series around to end the tournament at the third spot.

“Like other teams, nag te-training din naman talaga kami and nung last league talaga muntik na kami sa finals. So ang goal talaga namin is every game, makuha namin at ma-improve din yung skills namin. Hindi lang laging kunin yung game,” said Molina, who finished with 20 points on 16 attacks and four blocks in the win.

“Kailangan nagi-improve rin kami every game, yun talaga yung goal namin.”
