Transferees always play with an edge when going up against their former team, and Far Eastern University Tamaraw Celine Domingo put up a career outing against the squad that recruited her.
Domingo started her UAAP career just a few blocks away from FEU, as part of Francis Vicente’s prodigal recruitment class of Season 78. She later transferred out of the University of the East, citing personal reasons, and found refuge in the Lady Tamaraws.
After spending a year in residency, Domingo, now 19 years old, finally debuted for FEU this season, and she reserved her best game for the Lady Warriors.
Domingo tallied 19 points with six blocks and paced the Lady Tamaraws to their third win in five matches.
“Challenging siya kasi kung iisipin mo makakalaban ko ‘yung team na nandyan ako last, last year so parang ginawa ko na lang lalaruin ko na lang ang part ko para mapakita ko na masaya na ako dito sa FEU,” said the native of Nueva Ecija, who was the rookie captain of UE.
She is no doubt in a better situation with FEU. UE are in the midst of one of the worst decades in program history, and just saw Vicente resign.
For her part, Domingo has no issues with her former squad.
“Hindi ko kasi ano eh, nagkakausap pa rin kami (former teammates) pero hindi na namin pinag-uusapan ‘yung mga ganoong bagay. Kamustahan lang.”
