Carl Jammes Martin continued his amazing run, Saturday evening at the Elorde Sports Center in Parañaque City.
The 22-year-old native of Ifugao defeated grizzled veteran Mark Anthony Geraldo via unanimous decision (117-111, 115-113, 115-113) to win the Philippine Super Bantamweight Championship.
Despite his age, Martin showed maturity all throughout the bout, relying on his counterpunching to break Geraldo down.
The win lifted Martin’s record to an unblemished 18-0 (15 KOs). Geraldo, on the other hand, dropped to 38-10-3 (19 KOs).
Now, Martin is preparing to finally break through the international stage.
Three-time Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Charly Suarez, on the other hand, dominated previously-undefeated boxer Delmar Pellion via a unanimous decision (99-89, 99-89, 100-88).
Suarez went up to 9-0 (6 KOs) while dealing Pellion his first career loss in 10 bouts.
It was not a good night for former world title challenger Michael Dasmarinas as he figured in a technical draw against Ernesto Saulong.
Dasmarinas (30-3-2, 20 KOs) clashed heads with Saulong (22-7-3, 9 KOs), resulting in a cut and the stoppage of the bout in the second round.
