Ever since the 2017 Jones Cup last July, Carl Cruz has yet to take a break. And he even celebrated his birthday on the plane, as he flew from Lebanon to Malaysia for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games.
But even if he is currently activated by the Alaska Aces, Cruz made sure to join Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas in its first practice, Monday night.
“Actually wala pa kong pahinga since SEA Games. Bumalik ako kaagad sa mother team ko pero laban lang ng laban basta may opportunity,” the 26-year-old shared.
“Ako naman always ready ‘pag pinatawag ako nila Coach Chot.”
Though there’s no guarantee that he will be part of Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas team that will head to China on September 22, he just wants to help out his brothers in whatever way he can.
“Wala pa, pero may chance pa kaming pumasok sa playoffs kaya hindi ko pa alam mangyayari,” he shared.
“Pero ready naman ako anytime.”
And he’s doing this because the opportunity he has been given does not come every day.
“Ang sarap kasi maglaro dito sa Gilas. Siyempre, ni-rerepresent mo country mo at nagbibigay ka ng inspiration sa mga tao,” the product of FEU expressed.
“Kaya yung mga opportunity na ganito, gina-grab ko talaga.”
