Capital1 taps Russian Marina Tushova as import

Capital1 went big for its first-ever import in the Premier Volleyball League.

The Solar Spikers have recruited Russian outside hitter Marina Tushova for the upcoming Reinforced Conference.

Mandy Romero, owner of Capital1, revealed this development during the PVL Draft Lottery held at Cignal’s studio on Sheridan Street, Mandaluyong City.

Tushova, aged 25 and standing 185 centimeters tall, has played in various parts of the world.

In her first six years as a professional, she competed for several clubs in Russia and was a member of the gold medal-winning Russian national team at the 2016 Europe Under-19 Championship.

Afterward, Tushova played for Swiss team Groupe E Valtra, Italian clubs Istres Provence Volley and Vandœuvre Nancy Volley-Ball, before returning to Russia to join Sparta Nizhny Novgorod.

Romero also mentioned that for their second pick, head coach Roger Gorayeb is deliberating between selecting setter Julia Coronel or spiker Leila Cruz.
