Caelum Harris is ready to make his collegiate debut in the 2024-2025 season with Gulf Coast State College.
The Filipino-American winger will be competing in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region 8’s Panhandle Conference.
Harris, a former Gilas Pilipinas Boys’ standout, initially committed to the University of Nevada, Reno, a Division 1 program.
However, his path to the NCAA was halted after the collegiate body did not recognize some of the classes he completed at PHHoenix Prep, where he also played for the Diamond Doves in Overtime Elite.
While with the Doves, Harris averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Prior to his stint in Phoenix, Arizona, he suited up for Stewarts Creek High School in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Harris’ talent had previously attracted attention from several NCAA Division 1 programs, with Tennessee State and Alabama A&M offering him scholarships.
In addition to his high school and prep careers, Harris was also a key member of Fil-Am Nation Select, which made a successful run in the 2024 Smart-NBTC National Finals.
Now, Harris will aim to make the most of his time in the NJCAA, using this as a springboard to ultimately return to the Division 1 level. (CA)
