Buntan takes close decision for second win in ONE

Jackie Buntan continued her impressive run, taking a close majority decision win over Ekaterina Vandaryeva during ONE on TNT IV, Thursday morning at Singapore Indoor Stadium.

Coming off a dominant unanimous decision win over Wondergirl Fairtex during Fists of Fury last February 26, the 23-year-old Buntan showed a different facet of her game this time around.

After struggling with Vandaryeva’s range in the opening round, the Filipino-American made necessary adjustments in the last two rounds.

Buntan made sure to stay low in the final two rounds, battering her opponent with leg kicks to frustrate Vandaryeva.

“Yeah she did a fantastic keeping her range but I was able to adjust,” said Buntan.

“I had an issue picking up my range but was able to get it back in the second and third round.”

Buntan raised her record to an impressive 22-5 slate.

Vandaryeva though expressed her frustration, saying that she believes that she won the bout.

“I’m doing muay thai for 12 years already. With the rules that I know, I believe that I won based on that,” she said.

The 30-year-old kickboxer out of Belarus dropped to 58-10.
