It’s icon versus icon come ONE on TNT IV.
Former ONE Lightweight World Champion Eduard Folayang has been booked to face Japanese legend Yoshihiro Akiyama on Thursday, April 29 (Manila time).
The bout was announced by Team Lakay’s social media pages.
Akiyama dropped down from welterweight to lightweight to make this bout possible.
Folayang, 36, is coming off two straight losses.
The first coming by way of split decision versus Peter Buist back in Fire & Fury while the other is a unanimous decision loss against Antonio Caruso last October.
All in all, Foloyang has dropped four of his last five bouts for a 22-10 slate.
Akiyama, 45, on the other hand, has proven that losing streaks are just numbers.
Having lost six of his last seven bouts, Akiyama bounced back during King of the Jungle back in February by defeating Sherif Mohamed via knockout.
The former Asian Games gold medalist is 15-7 (2) in his career.
With both athletes known for putting up exciting fights, expect fireworks in Singapore come April 29.
Also slated on this card is Folayang’s teammate Stephen Loman taking on John Lineker in his ONE debut and Japanese legend Shinya Aoki squaring off against young gun Sage Northcutt. In the main event, Aung La N Sang defends his ONE Lightweight World Championship against Vitaly Bigdash.
